He's been involved in international trade for almost 25 years, with a strong portfolio including:

  • Plan - International trade may appear daunting to first time exporters, but planning your journey will help to install confidence, and help you identify the areas where you need to seek help
  • Long term outlook - Exporting is not a quick fix. It will require time and resources. If successful, your company will be in a much stronger position
  • Visit overseas markets - Gathering research is important. Often, its best to visit the overseas market, to meet potential trade representatives and buyers to establish personal relationships. To see first-hand what the competition is doing, and to understand and appreciate any cultural differences
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help - There have been many exporting pioneers before you, securing business in every part of the globe. Tap into this experience where you can. There's also fantastic support available in Scotland for new and ambitious exporters.
